The ‘best time to post’ myth (and what actually matters)
|
Hi Reader, If you’ve seen my posts this week about posting times, crossposting, and the algorithm, I want to zoom out for a second - because this is where a LOT of people get stuck. Most advice still sounds like this: “Post at 8:17 AM on Tuesdays or the algorithm will ignore you.” And when that doesn’t work, people assume they did something wrong. Here’s the part that rarely gets said clearly: The algorithm doesn’t care what time it is. It cares how people react. Posting times matter a little - but not in the way most people think. They don’t determine whether your content is “good” or “bad.” They just help your post get its first few eyes. What actually decides whether your post gets shown more is:
That’s it. Which is also why crossposting works far better than people expect. When you:
You’re not being “lazy”... you’re being efficient. One post can:
That doesn’t mean the content was wrong. It means algorithms test, not judge. This is why I always say: Consistency + clarity will beat perfect timing every time. If posting has felt stressful, it’s usually not because you need better timing, it’s because you’ve been trying to:
The truth? Pick a reasonable time. Crosspost confidently. Let the platform do its job. If this week’s posts made you exhale a little and think, “Okay… maybe I don’t need to overthink this,” then they did exactly what I hoped they would. And if you want to keep having these kinds of conversations (the ones that make marketing feel calmer and more doable) that’s exactly what my free community is for. No pressure, no perfect posting required. Just clarity, real talk, and support from people who get it. Cheers, P.S. No one sees all of your content anyway - which means reposting, crossposting, and repeating yourself is not only allowed… it’s necessary. |
